This session, led by Rodger Nardi, Executive Officer of the Australian Automotive Service & Repair Authority (AASRA) will answer the important questions to help you access the vehicle information you need, when you need it.

– How do I access vehicle information?
– How do I buy car company diagnostics and software?
– Safety and Security requirements

This session is a great introduction to Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) service and repair including vehicle powertain operation overviews, safety considerations and required workplace tools and equipment.

• Identifying hazards and controlling risks
• Workplace tools and equipment requirements
• HEV classifications and configurations
• Overview of the main components in HEV’s and BEV’s
• Depowering and re-initialising

Skills shortages are one of the most significant challenges facing workshop operators. Fifth Quadrant has been working with the AAAA and other partners to understand how we might address this, and in this session, Ben Selwyn will be sharing some of the key tips emerging from the research.

Around 95% of vehicles sold in 2023 still have an internal combustion engine, but this is only possible due to exhaust aftertreatment systems that alllow vehicles to meet emissions targets.

This session will delve into catalytic converters, diesel particulate filters, and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) commonly referred to as Adblue. As an increasing cause of driveability or warning light faults, Brendan Sorenson from The Automotive Technician will discuss operation, testing and repair methods for these systems for you to use in the workshop.
